Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 23, 2026

hikoreago (“we”, “the Site”) operates hikoreago.com, a travel information website for visitors exploring Korea. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with. The Site is operated from the Republic of Korea under the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where applicable, the EU/UK GDPR.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide. If you contact us by email or send feedback, we collect your email address and the content of your message.

Information collected automatically. When you browse the Site, our hosting provider and analytics tools record your IP address, browser type and version, device and operating system, pages viewed, referring URL, and the date and time of access.

Preferences stored in your browser. Favorites, language selection, and your cookie consent choice are stored in your browser (local storage) and are not transmitted to us.

We do not collect payment details. Bookings and payments are completed on a third-party provider’s own website under that provider’s policy.

2. Cookies

We use three categories of cookies:

  • Strictly necessary cookies — required for the Site to work and to remember your consent choice. Always active.
  • Analytics cookies — help us see which pages are useful so we can improve the Site. Set only with your consent.
  • Affiliate and advertising cookies — when you click an accommodation or travel link, our partners may set a cookie recording that the referral came from hikoreago. Set only with your consent.

You can decline non-essential cookies in the banner shown on your first visit, and change your choice at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser. You may also block cookies in your browser settings; some features may then not work as intended.

3. Affiliate Links and Third-Party Services

hikoreago participates in affiliate programs. Some accommodation, tour, and travel links are affiliate links, and we may earn a commission if you book through one — at no additional cost to you. See our Affiliate Disclosure for details.

The following third parties may process data about your visit under their own privacy policies:

  • Accommodation and travel booking partners (including Booking.com and its affiliate networks such as Awin and CJ Affiliate) — referral tracking and commission attribution.
  • Vercel Inc. — website hosting and server access logs.
  • Google (Analytics / YouTube) — usage analytics and embedded video playback.
  • Korea Tourism Organization (TourAPI) — source of attraction, festival, and accommodation content. Requests are made by our server; no personal data of yours is sent.

We do not sell your personal information and do not share it with third parties for their own independent marketing.

4. Why We Use Your Information (Legal Basis)

  • To operate, maintain, and secure the Site — legitimate interest.
  • To respond to your enquiries — performance of your request.
  • To measure traffic and attribute affiliate referrals — your consent, given through the cookie banner.
  • To meet legal and tax obligations — legal obligation.

5. Retention

Server and analytics logs are kept for up to 26 months, then deleted or anonymized. Email correspondence is kept for up to 3 years from the last message. Where Korean tax or e-commerce law requires longer, we retain the relevant records for that period only.

6. International Transfers

The Site runs on global infrastructure, and our analytics and affiliate partners operate internationally. Your information may therefore be processed outside your country of residence, including in the United States and the European Union. For personal data of EEA or UK residents, our processors rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent approved safeguard.

7. Your Rights

Subject to applicable law, you may request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of your personal information; withdraw consent at any time; and object to or restrict certain processing.

To exercise these rights, email top236789@gmail.com. We respond within 30 days. Residents of Korea may also contact the Personal Information Protection Commission (privacy.go.kr, 118); EEA and UK residents may contact their national data protection authority.

8. Children

The Site is not directed at children under 14 (under 16 in the EEA/UK) and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Security

The Site is served over HTTPS. We limit access to any personal information we hold to what is necessary to operate the Site and review our third-party providers for appropriate security practices. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the current version, and material changes will be announced on the Site.
