Where to go here

Tap a name to run it through search

  1. Haeundae Beach

    해운대

The face of the city: towers standing directly on the sand.

    Must do

In peak summer the parasol spots are gone by late morning. Ride the Blue Line Park beach train to move along the coast while you sightsee.

  2. Gwangalli Beach

    광안리

The beach where the Gwangan Bridge lights spill across the water.

    Must do

The bridge lighting changes on the hour. The lanes behind the beach stay open late, so this is where an evening goes.

  3. Gamcheon Culture Village

    감천문화마을

Brightly painted houses stacked up a hillside like steps.

    Must do

People still live here, so keep your voice down in the lanes. Pick up a map at the entrance office so you do not miss the viewpoints.

  4. Jagalchi Market

    자갈치시장

Korea's largest fish market, and one locals actually shop at.

    Must do

Pick your fish on the first floor and a restaurant upstairs will prepare it. Ask the price before you choose.

Insider's note

Busan is built on hills, so places that look close on the map can be a hard walk. Use a transit card that covers both subway and bus, and do not try to fit Gamcheon and Haeundae into the same day — they sit on opposite sides of the city.
