Where to go here

Tap a name to run it through search

  1. Boseong Daehan Tea Plantation

    보성 대한다원 녹차밭

Terraced tea fields covering an entire hillside.

    Must do

Walk past the cedar path and up to the viewpoint — that is where the photograph is. Save the green tea ice cream for the way down.

  2. Maeam Tea House, Hadong

    하동 매암제다

Less an attraction than a working tea garden.

    Must do

You can sit and drink tea they made themselves. Far quieter than Boseong.

  3. Seomjin River

    섬진강

In spring, plum and cherry blossom follow the river for kilometres.

    Must do

The stretch from Hwagae market to Ssanggyesa is the one to drive. Late March to early April is the peak.

Insider's note

Tea fields are greenest the day after rain. Public transport barely covers this route, so a car is close to required — and the drive along the Seomjin River between the two is half the trip.
